Professional theatre company Don’t Go Into The Cellar plan to give Birmingham Central Library’s Shakespeare Memorial Room (SMR) a horrifyingly good send-off later this month. Their show, “Gothicana”, is to be performed in the SMR on Tuesday August 30th – the day before the Room, the last remnant of the old Central Library, is disassembled and moved to the site of the new Library of Birmingham when it opens in 2013.
The show will be the last in its successful run at the venue which started earlier this year. The theatrical adaptations of classic Victorian ghost and horror stories have fitted in perfectly with the SMR, and the company will be sad to see it go.
Company Founder Jonathan Goodwin says, “We have had a rollicking good run here, and the Shakespeare Memorial Room has added immeasurably to the period atmosphere of our shows.”
Tickets for the final show at the SMR, priced at £6, can be booked by calling Rachel on 0777 2 572 060 or by emailing thebestcellar@gmail.com
