Stiff Little Fingers

The week kicks off on Monday night with a visit from regular Robin attraction Stiff Little Fingers. Although it’s been more than thirty years since debut album Inflammable Material cemented their name into punk legend, SLF are still kicking up a racket. Whether they should have grown up by now is open to debate but it’ll be noisy, that’s for certain. Tickets £17

Tuesday sees another legendary artist take the stage in the form of Jack Bruce, formerly of Cream amongst many others. The opportunity to watch someone of this calibre in such a venue isn’t to be missed although if you haven’t got a ticket already you won’t get the chance because it sold out long ago.

On Wednesday, the Robin plays host to the American progressive metal band Symphony X.  With album titles including The Divine Wings of Tragedy and Twilight in Olympus, it’s not hard to see where they’re coming from. Tickets £15

Friday sees the return of another Robin favourite, Martin Turner’s Wishbone Ash. This version of the classic British blues rock band features original singer Martin Turner, and recently released the Life Begins album and DVD, recorded last year and featuring a live performance of the 1972 award-winning album Argus. Tickets £13.50

Saturday at the Robin features Julian Smith, also known as saxophonist Joolz Gianni. Under his previous name, Julian/Joolz was a highly-acclaimed performer, but changed tack to appear on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, reaching the final. Since then he has appeared on the show’s live tour as well as playing for Prince Charles and the Prime Minister. Tickets £15

Sunday afternoon sees the usual free acoustic session in Woody’s bar, while in the evening Sandy Thom & her band will be performing. After her 2006 number one hit about punk rockers and flowers, Sandi has spent the last five years proving that she’s actually a performer of some distinction, her latest album Merchants & Thieves, featuring Joe Bonamassa, topping the UK itunes blues chart. Tickets £12.50
