Pebble Mill revisited

BBC Pebble MillOn Saturday 5 March Birmingham City University is holding a free screening event which includes a rare chance to see some of the dramas made at BBC Pebble Mill.  The event is being held at the School of Art in Margaret Street, just near the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, it runs 11am-4.30pm.  The screenings include:

11am-12pm   ‘A Touch of Eastern Promise’ (1973). The story of an Indian boy who dreams about meeting his favourite Bollywood film star. Plus  ‘A Box of Swan’ (1990) A young man (Adrian Dunbar) returns to his city for his father’s funeral.  Also starring Pete Postlethwaite. Introduced by Vanessa Jackson, Birmingham City University


12pm-1pm: ‘Joe the Chainsmith’ – Philip Donnellan, & Cradley Heath. Introduced by Dr Ieuan Franklin, Portsmouth University & Dr Paul Long, Birmingham City University.

 

1pm-2pm: ‘Made in Birmingham’.  A film bringing together the history of Birmingham’s popular music, through interview and archive. Introduced by Jez Collins, Birmingham City University.

3pm-4.30pm: ‘Fellow Traveller’ (1991 TV film) tells the story of a black listed U.S. writer forced to work in Britain during the McCarthy era. Introduced by writer Michael Eaton and exec producer Michael Wearing
