Saturday sees a busy night at the 02 Academy. Canadian electro band Crystal Castles plus Magnetic Man, Everything Everything and the Vaccines comprise the NME Awards tour at the main venue with We the Kings plus support at Academy 2. Local band Forever Fallen headline Academy 3.
Tarantis, which is something to do with spiders as well as a band playing ‘modern folk ska’ are appearing at the Wagon and Horses, Digbeth. Former Steel Pulse singer/guitarist Basil Gabbidon is at the Drum, Aston.
Elsewhere, Staffordshire indie trio Third Angle Projection are launching their debut single at the Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton while its big brother the Civic Hall has a Showtime Comedy special headlined by Richard Blackwood.

On Sunday emo-although-they-don’t-like-the-term band My Chemical Romance are at the LG Arena on their World Contamination tour. More interestingly, New York singer/songwriter Teddy Thompson plays the Glee Club, Hurst Street, Birmingham.
