Warwick Arts Centre dives into anniversary with The Pool

Life begins at 40 for arts centre.

Warwick Arts Centre celebrates its 40th anniversary with free, fun, interactive light sculpture, The Pool, from Wednesday 19th November-Tuesday 2nd December.

Delighting audiences since 1974 with its trademark blend of big name acts, contemporary art and unforgettable experiences, in the last year alone, the centre welcomed almost 250,000 people to fill its concert hall, cinema, theatres, Mead Gallery and take part in workshops, school sessions and film talks. As a thank you to all of these audiences, they are hosting The Pool a free, fun art installation for everyone to enjoy.

Formed from interactive circular pads, The Pool is an environment of giant, illuminated, concentric circles. Visitors can run, jump and bounce into a playful world with friends, family and strangers, collaborating to generate mesmerising patterns of shifting and fading colours.

This is the UK Premiere of The Pool, which has already wowed hundreds of thousands of people across the world. On a recent visit to Sydney, it was visited by 200,000 people per evening. Artist Jen Lewin, creator of The Pool, said: “We’re so excited to end 2014 and start The International Year of Light with our first exhibition in the United Kingdom. The Pool is meant to bring a community together to experience art and we can’t think of a place that aligns with that sentiment better than the Warwick Arts Centre.”

The Pool will be open from 4pm–10pm every evening from Wednesday 19th November–Tuesday 2nd December and is free for everyone. It’s the perfect companion piece to a gig, theatre show or a visit to free exhibition, Unreliable Evidence, in the Mead Gallery, or the upcoming free Family Weekend on Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th November.
