Festivals are back in Birmingham!

Chart-toppers, pop legends and rising stars set for Moseley Park events.

In the light of the Government’s lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, three Birmingham festivals have confirmed their line-ups, ensuring a fantastic summer of music ahead!

Rescheduled from July, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival kicks off the run between Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd August. The three-day event features enduring jazz/ electronic act The Cinematic Orchestra; ’70s Brit funk legends Cymande; Mr Jukes and Barney Artist, a new collaboration featuring Bombay Bicycle Club’s Jack Steadman; and Hot Chip’s unique DJ-meets-performance concept, Hot Chip Megamix.

They join the likes of Crazy P, Maribou State, Kofi Stone and Craig Charles (pictured) – all held over from 2020’s postponed fest’ – alongside the Mercury Prize-nominated The Comet Is Coming, American R&B icon Jocelyn Brown, rising jazz star Nubya Garcia, and disco era hitmakers Odyssey.

A week later sees the return of Beyond The Tracks, on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August 2021. Last seen in Brum city centre back in 2017, the festival finds a new home at Moseley Park where it presents an exciting two-day extravaganza featuring the uplifting orchestral/ club mash-up Hacienda Classical, House pioneers Inner City and famed DJ, producer, and remixer Todd Terry (Friday). While Saturday welcomes The Charlatans, Notts post-punk duo Sleaford Mods, BBC 6Music favourite Billy Nomates, BC Camplight, and the cream of the West Mids indie scene, including The Clause.

Finally, Moseley Folk and Arts Festival lands between Friday 3rd-Sunday 5th September with Passenger, The Waterboys, Richard Hawley, Frank Turner, The Wonder Stuff, and Gruff Rhys.

Other acts on the boundary-pushing Folk bill include the Katy J Pearson (a favourite of comedian Joe Lycett), singer-songwriter Jade Bird, and enduring Brum outsiders The Nightingales – recently the subject of Stewart Lee’s acclaimed rock documentary King Rocker.

Festival organiser John Fell says: “After a year away, we’re so glad to be back, and with three fantastic festivals over three successive weekends, all featuring some incredible acts – from established legends, to really great newcomers!

“Despite taking place in the same location, each festival has its own unique identity and vibe, with the funk, jazz and groove-based Mostly; the more introspective and eclectic Moseley Folk; and the returning Beyond The Tracks, which has one foot firmly in late-80s/ early-90s dance music, and the other in indie/ alternative.

“Alongside the main-stage music, each festival will also have DJ sets, well-stocked bars, local street food, and loads of other activities. It’s going to be a great summer!”

All three festivals take place within Moseley Park, a picturesque independent park at the heart of the Birmingham suburb of Moseley.
