Inclusivity grant awarded to Birmingham hospital trust

£50,000 to support inclusion, diversity and equality at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity is thrilled to have received a grant of £50,000 from NHS Charities Together, which will be used to further support the health and wellbeing of the Trust’s colleagues of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

The funds, which have been awarded as part of NHS Charities Together’s emergency COVID-19 funding, will be split across three key areas linked to the Trust’s Inclusion and Diversity strategy.

Dawn Harvey, Director of Workforce (Interim) at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this grant which will allow us to continue to improve inclusion, diversity and equality across our Trust, as well as better support our colleagues from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

“We know that some communities have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 so it’s vital that we use this opportunity and this generous funding to support our staff in every way that we can.”

The grant will be split across three areas of work which include:

· Physiological intervention and support for processing trauma to support BAME staff to address emergent trauma, process recent experiences and build confidence in speaking out.
· Training and education for all staff to support anti-racism and zero tolerance in the hospitals.
· Career mapping tools and development to support career progression for minority staff groups and increase diversity at senior levels across the Trust.
