LoveBrum co-founder takes on kitchen treadmill marathon

Charity challenge aims to help local community work.

Birmingham business owner and LoveBrum co-founder PJ Ellis is taking on a ‘treadmill marathon’ challenge this weekend, to fundraise for four key projects supporting vulnerable members of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, as part of LoveBrum’s #OneBrum campaign.

From 7am to 7pm on Saturday April 11th, he will be live on Facebook from his kitchen in Streetly, as he takes on the 26.2 miles of his lockdown marathon.

For twelve hours – symbolising the current shifts of NHS frontline staff – PJ will be racking up the miles for LoveBrum’s #OneBrum campaign, which aims to raise vital funds for local causes and unite the city in these challenging times.

He said: “Since we set up LoveBrum five years ago, our aims have been to not only support a myriad of incredible charity projects across Birmingham, but also to bring together and celebrate this great city.

“I wanted to try and do my bit for #OneBrum, and while I appreciate these are tough times financially for many people, any donation can make a huge difference to fund the four incredible schemes we’re supporting with this campaign.”

Paul Mitchell, executive director at LoveBrum, explained: “#OneBrum aims to not only help fund a handful of COVID-19 related causes, but also keep the city entertained through a series of events over the coming weeks. Watching PJ running over 26 miles in his kitchen is certainly going to be entertaining!”

OneBrum has a simple premise; everyone in Birmingham is being asked to do just two things; donate £1 to support the work happening right now in Birmingham to support local communities, and do one thing locally to help – whether that’s phoning someone in isolation or completing a shopping drop to a vulnerable person.

To sponsor PJ, visit his Facebook page. You can also donate £1 via JustGiving, or text ONEBRUM to 70085 to donate £1.
