Heart of England Community Foundation beats target

£25 million awarded in 25 years.

After celebrating its 25th birthday just two months ago, Heart of England Community Foundation, the region’s leading supporter of community projects and local charities, has hit yet another major milestone. Founded exactly a quarter of a century ago, the Foundation has now awarded an incredible £25 million to projects and organisations across the West Midlands and Warwickshire.

The celebration comes alongside a fantastic year for the charity as, it commemorates granting over £5 million over the last 12 months alone. This has seen more than 740 grants distributed to a whole host of grassroots community causes, local charities, and development schemes that tackle key issues across the region.

Commenting on the recent success of the Foundation, Chief Executive Tina Costello, said: “It has been an incredible year for the Foundation. We’ve reached so many major milestones in this past year, and it’s great to look back and reflect on the amazing work that our funds have contributed to.

“To see the direct impact our grants are having on local areas is the biggest motivating factor for both myself and the team; we’ve all been working so hard and so to be able to reach this momentous milestone together is something that I truly treasure.”

The charity’s support is invaluable to local projects across the West Midlands and Warwickshire, with programmes like Community Matters, Building Better Lives, and – most recently – the Coronavirus Resilience fund ensuring that vital can be carried out by groups across the West Midlands.

This year has been the Foundation’s biggest grant-giving year to date, and the grand total of £5million will be instrumental for organisations combatting issues within their communities. In the most recent issues emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic, Heart of England has already distributed over £420,000 to over 150 projects, ensuring that the support is there for those who need it most, especially during these unprecedented times.

Tina Costello continued: “We are so overwhelmed with the tremendous support we have received since launching the Coronavirus Resilience Fund and to watch the region come together to help those delivering life-saving support is truly humbling. Every day, we continue to be inundated with new applications from causes that rely on new donations to keep the funding possible. These communities need our support more than ever and I urge anyone who can help to please do so.”
