Firewalk for Breast Cancer Haven

Midlanders to walk across fire for breast cancer.

On 9th November, people from all over the Midlands will be taking part in a Firewalk to raise money for Breast Cancer Haven.

The Firewalk, back for its second year after raising over £16,000 in 2018, will see participants make their way barefoot across 20 feet of burning wood embers heated to 1,200F.

Taking place at Moseley Cricket Club, Streetsbrook Road, participants will also complete an inspirational ‘Learn or Burn’ motivational psychology seminar, designed to help them overcome their fear and inspire them to do the extraordinary.

Breast Cancer Haven is a national charity that provides emotional, physical and practical support to all those affected by breast cancer. All sponsorship raised by the brave fire walkers will be donated to Breast Cancer Haven’s West Midlands centre, based in Solihull. The money raised will fund vital 1:1 therapies and support for anyone affected by breast cancer.

During the last financial year, the West Midlands centre provided vital support to 500 local people affected by the disease.
Harriet Jackson, Fundraising Assistant at Breast Cancer Haven, West Midlands commented: “We can’t wait for our second annual Firewalk event. We raised an amazing amount last year and hope to raise even more this time so that we can continue to support local men and women affected by breast cancer. We’ve got local businesses taking part alongside some of our staff, visitors, their friends and family.

“If you fancy taking part in this once-in-a-lifetime challenge, sign up now to come and join us.”

Firewalk providers Blaze said: “We all have to face things we are uncertain about but you can use this event to set up resources that will always be available to you. If you can conquer fear in the very real form of walking across hot embers, then you can use this experience for any other situation in the future.”
