Making a point

Blues draw at Blackburn with Andy Munro watching.

It was never going to be easy against a team with a home record every bit as impressive as our own , and so it proved in weather that reflected why nobody would go to Blackburn for their holidays.

Predictably the prolific Danny Graham opened the scoring but the marking by Blues was poor. Yet after that, Blues came much more into the game but then fell to a sucker punch following a clever Bradley Dack backheel. It could have been worse but thanks to Lee Camp making a brilliant save we kept the deficit down. Incidentally, maybe now is the time to cut Camp some slack as his mistake to excellent save ratio is probably now on a par with both Kuscak and Stockdale.

It was good to see Wes Harding settle into his role following Roberts’ unfortunate injury and there’s every chance that he will make a more than decent fist of it given his aggression and pace to add to his undoubted physicality. A word also for Craig Gardner, who’s been living in the shadow of his younger brother but he converted his spot kick well under pressure and set up our equaliser to spring the Jutkiewicz and Adams double act.

It was certainly a point that we would never have secured under the previous recent regimes and our Monk inspired resilience is impressive. We’re still a bit short on bodies and the lack of positive messages from Isaac Vassell’s physio is starting to seem ominous. Probably a mid-table position beckons; upper mid-table without any points deduction and lower if the EFL want to ‘make an example’ of us.
