Countdown to Brindleyplace’s Winter Film Festival

City hospice to benefit from big screen spectaculars.

With the Christmas countdown officially on, it’s time to get into the festive spirit at Brindleyplace’s first ever Winter Film Festival.

The free event will be kicking off with a showing of Gremlins on Thursday 13th December and will run for four days on an outdoor screen in Central Square. Evening screenings during the week will start at 6pm, alongside two earlier showings at the weekend, starting at 12pm and 3pm.

On Friday 14th December, family feel good favourite Elf will be coming to be the big screen, followed by the singalong sensation Frozen and Christmas caper, Home Alone on Saturday 15th. Everyone is invited aboard The Polar Express on Sunday 16th December, with tearjerker It’s a Wonderful Life closing the show.

Stacey Muir, Marketing Executive at Brindleyplace, said: “With just over a week to go until our Winter Film Festival comes to the big screen, we’re so excited to see the crowds gather to enjoy a selection of the nation’s favourite Christmas films. It’s the perfect way to enjoy time with friends and family, plus we’ll have plenty of blankets to keep you snug as you sit back and enjoy the movie. After all, it is the most wonderful time of the year!”

Brindleyplace’s charity partner, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, will also be hosting fundraising activities throughout the four-day event. All donations made will go towards providing vital care to local people and their families who are living with life-limiting illness across Birmingham and Sandwell.

Charlotte Anson, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with Brindleyplace’s Winter Film Festival. This festive season, our nurses and doctors will be helping local people and their families to live life to the full and have a Christmas they can treasure. We look forward to meeting big-hearted supporters at the Film Festival and a donation as little as £2 could help pay for someone to enjoy a cup of tea and tasty mince pie at our Day Hospice over the Christmas period.”

A limited number of seats and bean bags will be available during the Winter Film Festival, provided by Brindleyplace. Attendees are encouraged to bring along their own picnic chairs and blankets and arrive early to secure the best views in the house.
