Solihull residents are in for a treat as Grace Academy prepares for an action-packed afternoon of animals, summer food and fun at their Family Fun Day.

The Fun Day on Saturday 1st July from 12 noon until 3pm at Grace Academy Solihull, Chapelhouse Road, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5JS, will offer visitors an inflatable assault course, bouncy castle, donkey rides, large petting zoo, arts and crafts, and a range of food and other stalls.

The event is free entry, but student leaders from Grace Academy are aiming to raise money at the event towards the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator which will be available for use by the local community. AEDs can be used in cases of life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias which lead to cardiac arrest.

The 147th Birmingham Brownies have already been preparing for the Fun Day by making friendship bracelets to sell, and will also be showing visitors how to make s’mors, a traditional campfire treat of roasted marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two biscuits.

Charlotte Atkins, Brownie leader, said: “All of the leaders are looking forward to the fun day as it gives us the opportunity to engage with the community and show them what Brownies is all about. It also shows our Brownies how much fun secondary school can be and it will be less daunting for them when they start themselves.”

Laura Wadley, Youth and Community Coordinator, added: “We organise these events because we really want to bring the community together and spend time together. Many of the activities at the Fun Day are free to make it as accessible as possible for everyone.”
