Midland Mencap celebrates in chorus with THSH

Free concert for families to relax at Christmas.

Midland Mencap will join forces with THSH Birmingham and partner Forward Carers (Birmingham Carers Hub) to host a celebratory Families Together at Christmas concert on Sunday 18th December.

The free concert, hosted at THSH, will offer a relaxed, musical escape for families in the whirlwind of Christmas, recognising the huge amount of effort and work that goes into caring for loved ones and creating a seasonal moment of respite for families to gather together, get their Christmas jumper on and get festive.

The concert will feature performances from Halas Homes Sing and Signchoir, signing new and familiar songs and one of the UK’s finest young brass bands, The Metropolitan Brass Ensemble. A regular supporter of THSH, the ensemble will play a selection of festive favourites, traditional carols and Christmas sing-alongs, and THSH Chaplain Revd. Elaine Hutchinson, a member of the workplace chaplaincy team in Birmingham City Centre, will be present to share a few words of Christmas spirit.

Transport coaches will be provided for concert goers by Midland Mencap and will be available for £3 from pick up points at Northfield, Weoley Castle, Selly Oak, Moseley, Walsall, Sutton Coldfield and Erdington.

Pam Johnson, Community Hub Operations Manager at Midland Mencap comments: “We work continually all year round to ensure families get the best out of our services and Christmas is no exception. Christmas can be hectic, so we’re hoping that this wonderful festive-filled event can provide a moment of respite for everyone caught up in the madness that comes with the holiday season. We’re looking forward to enjoying a fun and festive concert for all!”
