SIFA fundraising concert announced

Event to honour memory of local musician.

King’s Heath Walk of Fame is playing host to a very special gig on Sunday 10th April 2016 raising vital funds for SIFA Fireside, a local homeless charity, whilst honouring a much respected local musician, Rich McMahon. Beyond Borders is a vibrant music show originally devised by Rich who was a regular compere and performer at King’s Heath Walk of Fame events until his untimely passing in 2015.

The show will take place at Fletchers Bar, King’s Heath and will feature classic songs from a range of eras and styles: The Beatles, Cat Stevens, The Kinks, Crowded House & many more, including original songs. Performers on the day will include a fantastic line up including Alex Vann, Pete Kelly, Andy Thomas and Grande Valise. There will also be a special guest set from The Dissenters – a band whose members are clients of SIFA Fireside, whom Rich worked with over a number of years. Music and arts play an important role in helping people to develop confidence and shared goals and to have something to look forward to at a difficult time in their lives. The audience is in for a real treat with the variety and quality of musicianship that will be on display.

Funds raised will go towards the services that SIFA Fireside provides at its daily Drop In Centre in Birmingham, where an average 130 people attend daily. Here, homeless and vulnerably-housed adults receive practical support such as food, clothes and emergency accommodation advice; as well as longer-term support such as counselling, basic skills classes, help to find work and settled accommodation, leading to a more stable lifestyle.

Organisers of the King’s Heath Walk of Fame, Bob Prew and Ken Whittaker, said “We’re really pleased to be able to support this local charity especially because of its link with Rich and we know that our regulars will enjoy the music and line up that we have planned for the day.”

Advance tickets for the concert cost £4 from the Kitchen Garden Cafe or £4.40 from Any remaining tickets will cost £5 on the door.
