Choose life again

Trainspotting anniversary marked by theatre tour.

On the eve of its 20th anniversary and a sequel, Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting film is brought to the stage in a critically acclaimed, five star production, presented by King’s Head Theatre, London, In your Face Theatre, Scotland and mac birmingham in association with Rainbow Venues. This, gritty, no-holds-barred production will be performed under the railway arches in Digbeth, Birmingham from Wednesday 23rd March–Saturday 2nd April 2016.

This punchy, 75 minute production of Trainspotting recaptures the passion and the controversy of the famous novel, then globally successful film, and repackages it into an immersive production – the audience are literally part of the show, including the notorious Worst Toilet in Scotland scene. Commenting on the production, Irvine Welsh stated: “….shocking….and I wrote the f*cking thing!”

For avid fans this is a must, and if you’ve never read the book or seen the film: this is your ticket to a ride you won’t soon forget.

Adam Spreadbury-Maher, Artistic Director, King’s Head Theatre said: “The response to Trainspotting has been overwhelming – it broke King’s Head attendance records during my tenure. It came out of nowhere – it was a huge risk and experiment for us. We’re proud to be partnering with mac birmingham and we’re excited to be building new partnerships in Scotland for critical work that needs to be seen across the UK.”

Artistic Director of In Your Face Theatre, Greg Esplin added: “I am very excited about this production of Trainspotting. The transformation that happened in London while working with Adam and the rest of the Kings Head Team has been truly inspiring. To anyone who may have seen an earlier production, I can promise – this is the definitive production.”
