Spanner in the work

Kings Heath gig lined up for folk legend.

Folk rock afficionados will be catered for at the Kitchen Garden Cafe in Kings Heath on Sunday 22nd November when Steeleye Span’s fiddle player Peter Knight brings his band Gigspanner to the venue,

Gigspanner have been hailed by Songlines Magazine as “another milestone in folk’s rebirth of cool”, although to classify these three virtuoso performers as purely folk musicians is to undersell them by a long chalk.

A bedrock of British traditional music is to be expected but the band’s musical reach flirts with Eastern European, French, Cajun, African and even Aboriginal influences, transporting audiences on a “blistering pace of musical world tour” (Folkcast), prompting Sir Terry Pratchett to write “Peter Knight can spin the world on his bow”.

Tickets are £14 and can be obtained from the box ofice, tel: 0121 442 3725.
