More trains for rugby fans

Extra services for Rugby World Cup games.

London Midland will be running extra services for the Rugby World Cup matches at Wembley, Milton Keynes and Villa Park in September and October.

The train company is advising rail travellers that services will be busy on match days and passengers should allow extra time to make their journeys.

Fans travelling to the games at Villa Park on 26th and 27th September are also being warned that Birmingham will be particularly busy as this will be the first weekend when the new Grand Central shopping centre will be open above New Street station.

London Midland’s head of West Coast services, Terry Oliver said, “Our message is it will be busy, there are other events going on as well, so plan ahead, expect queuing systems to be in operation and don’t leave it till the last train or you may be disappointed.”

Fans travelling to Villa Park are advised to use Aston station. Additional services will run before and after the games. For matches at StadiumMK there will be additional services to and from Milton Keynes Central and some trains will have extra carriages. For matches at Wembley Stadium, additional stops will be put in to London Midland’s services at Wembley Central.
