Coming to Artrix

Comedy, theatre and a strange take on science.

In the last year Justin Moorhouse has had part of his body removed and started to dress like a toddler. Mid-life crisis? Maybe. Funny? Definitely.

Hitting 45 and coincidentally matching his waist measurement Justin has taken a long hard look at his life in his new show Destiny Calling. 2015 has already been a busy year for Justin reprising the tiger faced Young Kenny for the record breaking run of Phoenix Nights Live at the Manchester Arena which raised over £5 million for Comic Relief. He also wowed the nation with tales of Australia and Manchester on Live at the Apollo (BBC1) during this last series after previously appearing several times on The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave) and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1).

Justin Moorhouse presents Destiny Calling is at Artrix on Thursday 8th October at 8.00 pm. Tickets cost £15.00 (16+)

The science comedy phenomenon Festival of the Spoken Nerd, is back on the road and this time it’s off the charts.

Just for Graphs will be packed with electrifying live experiments and statistically significant laughter. Experiments maestro Steve Mould (BBC1’s Britain’s Brightest) will perform stand-up based on data from the birth of his first child, while geek songstress Helen Arney (BBC2’s Coast) will sing an emotional tribute to the intrepid Philae lander which travelled four billion miles only to run out of batteries. Matt Parker (Discovery’s You Have Been Warned) will be setting charts on fire with the world’s greatest graph.

Festival of the Spoken Nerd presents Just for Graphs at Artrix on Friday 9th October at 8.00 pm. Tickets cost £15.00 ((£13.00 over 60s & students)

An evening of tributes to Charles Dickens could bore the pants off most people. But with Dickens Abridged, nothing is further from the truth. This fast-paced musical comedy which gallops into Artrix on 23rd October is by the same writer behind the comedy hit play Reduced Shakespeare.

As some of Dickens’ best-loved characters are brought to life, the show, which achieved outstanding reviews at this year’s Edinburgh Festival, catapults the audience into madcap Dickensian mayhem. This is Oliver with a Twist – a singing, dancing love letter to the great man unlike any Dickens-based show you’ll ever see.

Dickens Abridged is at Artrix on Friday 23rd October at 8.00 pm. Tickets cost £17.00
