Back to the future for Birmingham fashions

Peaky Blinders set to appear at Style Birmingham Live.

Iconic looks from the multi–award winning British drama series, Peaky Blinders, are set to wow visitors at this year’s Style Birmingham Live!

The city’s fashion and shopping event of the year, Style Birmingham Live is taking place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery’s Gas Hall, which will be transformed into The Fashion Theatre for the event.

Exclusive to this year’s show are some of the original costumes from the Birmingham-based BBC drama Peaky Blinders, which will include overcoats, three piece suits, tweed jackets and iconic caps, together with stunning dresses, which were tailormade for the characters who wore them yet echo some of the current hot trends for autumn/winter.

Two members of the cast from series two, Jordan Bolger (who plays Jimmy Jesus’s son Isaiah) and Birmingham-born actor Harry Kirton (who plays the youngest Shelby brother, Finn) will appear on the catwalk to create a spectacular element of the fashion show featuring iconic outfits from the hit programme.

Mark Heyes, Style Birmingham Live stylist and co-host said, “Over the past few years there has been a real turning point in how men dress. Younger guys who’ve seen an older generation dressing casually seem to have taken a fashion stand. Tailoring and suiting are now part of Saturday night out attire and aren’t just relegated to the workplace. TV shows like Peaky Blinders and bands like Mumford & Sons have really spurred on this trend. Let the style revolution continue!”

Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders creator and writer , said “Birmingham has always had its own look and now it’s time to show the world.”
