Directing the Light House

Comedy with a message and the biggest boy band in the world feature in Wolverhampton.

Comedy

This Friday, 10th October is World Mental Health Day. Light House Media Centre is helping to raise awareness of body image and related mental health issues by bringing the 5 star rated Edinburgh Fringe comedy Show Look at Me to The Chubb Buildings for a live show this Friday night.

Award-winning comedy actress and ex-BBC broadcast journalist Juliette Burton has been fat, thin and everything in between. In this live on stage documentary/comedy show, she’ll investigate appearance and how it changes who we appear to be. By wearing the hijab, dressing provocatively, male, old and nude, she questions if changing our outsides change who we are on the inside?

Juliette blogs for Time to Change, is an ambassador for the eating disorder charity B-eat and worked with the charities Changing Faces and B.O.D.Y in creating this illuminating and funny show.

Suitable for teens to adult, tickets are just £8 and £7 concessions. The show starts at 8.30pm.

Light House is also preparing to welcome One Direction fans to the city for a weekend of new band footage and interviews, when their new concert film Where We Are is screened for just two days internationally. The band filmed one of their Milan tour dates this summer, plus 15 minutes of back stage interviews. Fans can re-live the tour, or experience it for the first time, and display their love through art or ‘lovelocks’ at Light House – Liam Payne’s local independent cinema.

Marketing and Events manager Julie Homfray added “Our wall of lovelocks – padlocks initialled with fans’ and their favourite 1D member – has steadily been added to by fans over the summer. We’d love visitors to bring a lock and share their across the world’s social media for the big weekend. We have locks available for sale at Box Office too for a donation of £1 to our charity fundraiser.”

Fans can also bring in their 1D artwork for display.

Tickets are £12.50 adults and £12 concessions, with screenings on both dates at 2pm and 6pm.
