Travel advice for Fusion Festivalgoers

Festivalgoers planning to travel by train to the Fusion Festival at Cofton Park in Longbridge on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August are asked to note the following travel advice fro train company London Midland.

As the stretch of railway between Barnt Green and Longbridge is currently closed and undergoing a £2 4million improvement programme, replacement bus services will be in operation at certain points along the route. Passengers travelling to the festival on Saturday 30th will be able to travel by train between Birmingham and Longbridge. Anyone travelling from Redditch or Alvechurch will need to use the replacement bus services to Longbridge.

Make sure you don’t miss anything – including the last train.

On Sunday 31 August, passengers travelling from Birmingham New Street will need to change onto replacement bus services at Selly Oak station for onward travel to Longbridge.

London Midland is keen to ensure that everyone gets home safely, by asking customers to make a note of their last services on both the Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday 30th August the last train to Birmingham New Street is at 23:50, calling at Northfield, Kings Norton, Bournville, Selly Oak, University and Five Ways. The last bus to Redditch leaves at 23:44, via Barnt Green and Alvechurch while the last train to Lichfield City leaves at 22:52, calling at all stations to New Street, and then all stations to Lichfield City.

On Sunday 31st August the last service to Birmingham is a bus, which leaves Longbridge at 23.24 and runs via Northfield, Kings Norton, Bournville, Selly Oak, University and Five Ways. The last bus to Redditch leaves at 23:59 and runs via Barnt Green and Alvechurch. If you are travelling to Lichfield, the last bus to Selly Oak leaves Longbridge at 22:20. This connects with the 22:53 train which runs from Selly Oak to all stations towards Lichfield Trent Valley.

Mark Goodall, London Midland’s head of route for Cross City services said, “This event was extremely well attended last year by customers who live on the Cross City line between Lichfield and Redditch, so we’re keen to ensure we get the message out about travel arrangements over the weekend.

“The key message is, if you’re travelling from Birmingham on the Sunday, you will need to leave the train at Selly Oak and join replacement bus services which will take you to Longbridge – don’t stay on the train or you may risk missing the start of the show!”
