Birmingham business community raises funds for disabled children’s charity

One of the country’s most unusual business networking events has raised nearly £5,000 for Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families.

The Birmingham BullRun, organised by the Mercantile Club, the Birmingham based business networking and support group, took place on Thursday 3rd July, 2014. It saw 150 business revellers visiting four city centre bars in and around Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

The event gave like-minded business people the opportunity to network, and have fun, in what has become the UK’s largest business charity pub crawl. Auctions and raffles throughout the evening raised much needed cash for the charity whilst tickets, at £40 a head, added to the charity coffers.

Participants came from across the Midlands with representatives on the night from: Pertemps, JW Hinks, Taurus Wealth, The Best of Birmingham and the events main sponsor Calor Gas. Ticket holders enjoyed a free drink in each hostelry before being served food in the final bar.

Kerrie Davies, Events Manager at Caudwell Children said: “Demand for our treatments, therapies, specialist equipment and support services is increasing daily and this money will go some way to meeting the provision needed. In total there are 770,000 disabled children, from a diverse range of communities, across the UK. Thanks to the Mercantile Club, money raised from the BullRun will enable Caudwell Children to support more children and families.”
