Birmingham joins in yellow themed fun for Big Yellow Friday

Children’s charity set to stage fun day around the city.

Birmingham will definitely seem a brighter place this Friday (March 7th) as yellow themed events take place to mark Big Yellow Friday, the national awareness and fundraising day for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF)

Whether it’s wearing yellow, eating yellow or creating something, events are taking place around the country in a bid to raise £70,000 for the UK charity which is dedicated to stamping out all forms of childhood liver disease.  And as the national charity is based in Birmingham, the city is certainly playing its part.

Special events include

  • The lights on the Victoria Square fountain turning yellow for the evening, as will the lights on the Urban Splash building at Fort Dunlop
  • Yellow clad staff from RBS collecting change from lunchtime shoppers in the city centre
  • A Big Yellow Cake Sale at the city offices of Grant Thornton
  • A yellow themed day at the Birmingham office of Capita Employee Benefits
  • And numerous cake sales and Wear Something Yellow days at city schools

.Every penny raised on Big Yellow Friday is much needed, as CLDF Chief Executive, Alison Taylor explains: “Every day in the UK, two children are diagnosed with a childhood liver disease – that’s more than childhood leukaemia – and there is still no cure. We take action against childhood liver disease by providing information and emotional support, funds for research and a voice for all those affected. In order to do this however, we rely on community fundraising for the majority of our income which is why Big Yellow Friday is such an important day for us.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people making a huge effort to raise awareness and funds for CLDF. Every contribution, however small, helps to make a real difference to the lives of families affected by liver disease.
