Birmingham Metropolitan College is giving local students something to smile about by amalgamating with a global dentistry company to create an amazing new training facility in the centre of Birmingham.

The Straumann Centre of Excellence will be the first medical education and training suite set up by the UK arm of the Swiss company to provide education and training for regional and national dental, medical and pharmaceutical companies by providing them with the latest innovation and professional development opportunities.

Dame Christine Braddock DBE, Principal at Birmingham Metropolitan College, said:  “We are delighted that Straumann has chosen us to be its first Centre of Excellence in the UK.  Dentistry is a growing, thriving industry in the global market and, from a regional perspective, Birmingham will most certainly feel the benefit of our college being a hub for the delivery of innovation through training at our world class facility in the City Centre.  We’re pleased to have forged this partnership and I’m sure our dentistry students will very quickly feel the benefits.”

With its headquarters in Basel, Straumann is a global leader in implant, restorative and regenerative dentistry. In collaboration with leading clinics, research institutes and universities, Straumann researches, develops and manufactures dental implants, instruments, prosthetics and tissue regeneration products for use in tooth replacement and restoration solutions or to prevent tooth loss. Straumann products, solutions and services are available in more than 70 countries, bringing hi-tech solutions to the heart of the dental practice and laboratory.

With a desire to become more involved with the training and education of dental technicians in the UK, Straumann chose Birmingham Metropolitan College as its partner for their successful connections and reputation within the wider dental technology education sector.
