WAE+ – a reply

Following on from a story we published recently we have received this letter, which is reproduced unedited.

I am writing concerning your article in The Birmingham Press on 22nd July 2013.The article relates to WAE+ and their pledge to donate at least £10000 to Midlands Air Ambulance.

I also refer to your quote by Ben Slater, Operations Director at WAE+, “Having had such a successful first year of business we felt the time was right to share our good fortune with a local charity.”

On the face of it,it sounds extremely benevolent of WAE+ to donate this huge sum of money to such a worthwhilecharity. However this donation does not sit well with 100’s if not 1000’s of very unhappy customers of WAE+ who are owed money.

I ask you to take a minute and search on the Internet – WAE+ Customer Reviews. You will find a number of review websites including the Guardian who describe WAE+ as “The most complained about company”. The review website Trustpilot has over 3000 reviews, most of these are extremely negative. Money Supermarket Forum to name just another has 13 pages of negative WAE+ reviews.

I am one of the customers who have had the misfortune to deal with WAE+. I purchased my item on 30th June 2013 from WAE+ online. The item was shown as being in stock. After 10 days I had not received it so I telephoned WAE+ and I was then informed that the item was not in stock but was in a shipment coming from Germany and would be delivered in the next 7 – 10 days. On 23rd July 2013, the item had still not been delivered so I telephoned  WAE+ again and I cancelled the order. I was then informed that the refund would be paid within 30 days. Needless to say that having waited well over 30 days since cancelling the order no refund has been paid. I have made numerous telephone calls and despite promise after promise no refund has been forthcoming.

If you read any of the 100’s and 100’s of negative reviews from other customers you will see that their experiences with WAE+ are similar to mine and they are all owed money. Customers have reported WAE+ to Birmingham Trading Standards and Action Fraud because WAE+ are in breach of the Sales of Goods Act 1979.

I sincerely hope that the Midlands Air Ambulance receive the donation of £10000 from WAE+ but not at the cost of all those customers including myself who are waiting for money they are owed by WAE+.

Yours Sincerely

Richard Foord
