This half-term, from 22 – 27 October, a number of fun-filled workshops and entertaining events are set to inspire visitors to The Public.
From spooky Halloween activities to cultural celebrations, a drama workshop to a computer gaming showcase, people of all ages are encouraged to get creative and try something new.
Throughout the week the West Bromwich arts centre will be hosting a number Halloween themed workshops, including the Little People’s Art Zone: Spooky Special on Thursday 25 October, designed specifically for little ones aged 1 to 4, the Halloween Art House on Friday 26 October, in which 4 to 11 year olds are invited to help create a giant haunted house sculpture using film, video and amazing digital projections, and a special Pumpkin Carving workshop on Saturday 27 October.
On Tuesday 23 October a Diwali themed workshop packed full of light based fun, will entertain the whole family. Visitors will be able to join artists and performers to create cool shadow puppets, photographic silhouettes and lanterns in preparation for the ‘Festival of Lights’ in November.
During the Family Arts and Crafts Day on Wednesday 24 October, families across from the region will be able to make their very own accessories, from necklaces and friendship bands to cardboard handbags and funky hats. Using cool and quirky recycled materials and traditional craft materials the hands-on workshop will inspire all ages to get creative.
Magical children’s theatre, The Frog Who Wouldn’t Hop, a production about the tales of a mischievous frog who does the opposite of what he’s asked, takes place on Thursday 25 October. Based on one of Korea’s best-loved folk tales, the play by Moby Duck, features storytelling, physical theatre, live music and puppetry, slipping from funny to dark, moving to exhilarating.
