Jean Templeton, Chief Executive of St Basils said: “We’re a local charity and so we hope the local community will rally round and support us in this and voting is free and only takes a few seconds. Homelessness should never be a part of growing up and this fantastic prize could help make huge improvements to some of our supported accommodation schemes and even help towards acquiring more accommodation and bed spaces for vulnerable young people.”

St Basils help 4000 young people across the West Midlands per year and can house over 400 per night. St Basils aims not only to help young people find and keep a home but also to develop their confidence, skills and opportunities and stop the cycle of exclusion and homelessness.

The winner will be announced at a special birthday luncheon at the Kensington Roof Gardens on 27 September 2012.

St Basils now has 27 residential projects across Birmingham, Solihull and Worcestershire, with over 400 flats or bedsits to meet various needs from emergency and fully supported accommodation on to semi-independent accommodation.

4000 young people a year access our support services which include Emergency Advice through St Basils Youth Hub (now based at St Basils church), A Life Skills project, Family Mediation service, Floating support and a Learning, Skills and Work programme.

St Basils is a Registered Charity and Housing Association. St Basils works with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We are also the largest agency working to prevent youth homelessness in the region. We aim to help our young residents to turn their lives around, by promoting independence, raising aspirations and fulfilling potential; we actively work with them to find solutions, develop skills and realise opportunities.
