Solihull hotel hosts Diamond Jubilee garden party in aid of Acorns Hospice

A Solihull hotel is laying on a Diamond Jubilee garden party, featuring a host of fun attractions, to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust.

St Johns Hotel, SolihullThe four-star St John’s in Warwick Road will throw open its extensive garden to host the family event on Sunday, June 3, from 1pm to 3pm.

There will be an ice cream tricycle, stalls and games such as Giant Jenga, Hook-a-Duck and a coconut “shoot-out”.

Party food, including bangers and mash and mini burgers, will be available during the afternoon.

As well as local families, it’s expected that some children from the Selly Oak Acorns Hospice will attend the party.

There will be a 50p entry fee, and it is hoped the Jubilee event will raise hundreds of pounds for the Acorns charity, which cares for and supports life-threatened and life-limited children and their families in Birmingham, the Black Country and much of the Midlands.

“The Diamond Jubilee gives us an opportunity to use our facilities to organise an event that gives something back to the community,” says Tony Hill, general manager of St John’s Hotel.

“We will be pulling out all the stops to ensure that everyone who comes along has a great time – especially children – and we really hope we can raise a lot of money for an extremely worthwhile cause.”

Joanne Danaher, the Acorns’ community fundraising officer for Birmingham and Warwickshire, says the charity is delighted with the fundraising event.

“It’s great to have the support of St John’s Hotel and to know that people in our communities are helping us. If we didn’t have this support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.”
