Riot Arrests top 700

West Midlands Police have made another series of arrests over last summer’s riots.

West  Midlands PoliceMore than 700 people have now been arrested in connection with the summer disorder in the West Midlands, following the arrest of 15 suspects in Birmingham on Tuesday morning

Officers raided 17 addresses in the fourth phase of a co-ordinated set of arrest missions planned in an attempt to process suspects as efficiently as possible through the criminal justice system. The 15 arrests were mainly for burglary and related to offences committed at stores in Birmingham city centre, and brings the total number of arrests to 703.

Detective Sergeant Julie Woods said: “We cannot emphasise enough that this investigation is very much ongoing and our absolute focus continues to be the identification and arrest of suspects.

“Anyone involved in the disorder who has not yet been arrested should know we will be coming to get them.”

Many suspects have still not been identified and a large number of CCTV images remain on the West Midlands Police website.
