What’s On at the Robin

On Monday one of the world’s greatest guitarists, Tommy Emmanuel, returns to the Robin. As part of his 50th anniversary tour, Tommy will be performing with his full Australian band and showing the extraordinary ability which has seen him tour the world, be nominated for two Grammy awards and work with such notables as Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, as well as being awarded a succession of platinum albums and performing at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics. Matt Schofield, one of Britain’s most promising blues guitarists, takes to the stage on Wednesday. Winner of the 2010 British Blues Awards for both guitarist and album of the year, Matt has recently been placed in the top ten British blues guitarists of all time, placing him alongside his great influences Eric Clapton and Peter Green. Tickets £16.

Thursday sees another Robin favourite, Stackridge, take to the stage. Always one of the most eclectic British bands, drawing on influences ranging from music hall to the Beach Boys, Stackridge are currently celebrating the fortieth anniversary of their eponymous debut album. Tickets £12.50.

On Saturday, another regular will be performing. Mostly Autumn have been described as “the best band you’ve never heard,” which sums up a band who have gained a formidable reputation on the back of non-stop touring and a formidable live show. Heavily influenced by seventies classic rock, Mostly Autumn have played with Bryan Adams and Jethro Tull amongst others and number Bob Harris among their admirers. Tickets £14.

On Sunday afternoon the usual free acoustic session will take place in Woody’s bar.
