Ding Dong…Avon Calling!

Ding Dong...Avon Calling!

This Summer mac birmingham is giving audiences the chance to have a play performed in their own living room.

Avon Calling is a new piece of theatre from The Other Way Works, a Birmingham-based theatre company, which will be performed not in mac’s theatre, but in the homes of members of the public.

Potential hosts of the performances will need to purchase a ticket, invite some friends around and wait for the Avon Lady to ring on their front door and create an Avon party with a twist. Audience members can have fun with vintage Avon products and adverts, test and maybe even purchase new Avon cosmetics and toiletries.

Katie Day, Artistic Director of The Other Way Works commented: “Performing in unusual places is nothing new for The Other Way Works, having made and performed shows in hotels, a dome tent, and an empty florist’s shop over the years. But we are especially excited about the location of our new production ‘Avon Calling’, where audience members will be inviting us into their own living rooms for an Avon party with a twist. We’ll be creating a fun and memorable evening for the host and their friends – a refreshing change from a normal night in with a DVD and a takeaway pizza.”

Whatever next, one wonders? Pole dancers selling Ann Summers products performing in the comfort of your own bedroom? The mind boggles.

Commissioned by mac birmingham and supported by Arts Council England with development supported by Pilot Nights and Warwick Arts Centre; this home event is created by Katie Day and Louise Platt and performed by Louise Platt. Mentoring by Alexander Kelly, Third Angel.
