Digbeth date for Wolverhampton singer

Cariss Auburn to showcase new release at re-opened venue.

Local singer-songwriter and producer Cariss Auburn is set to perform her first show of 2021 at Centrala in Digbeth. Bringing her blend of alt-R&B and pop to the much-loved venue, this will be the first time all tracks from brand new EP Refraction witth be performed in front of a live audience with a full band.

Joining Cariss is Ruth and The Ark, a collective that sail through funk and blues with the menacing soul voice from band leader Ruth Kokumo.

Wolverhampton native Cariss released her EP Refraction to a multitude of praise from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, COLORS and Notion with features in Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds: The Wave playlists. As an ambassador for Gibson guitars, she is often seen with her trademark baby blue Les Paul, which is sure to feature on the 5th.

Influenced equally by the y2k pop of Billie Piper and the smooth R&B of Destiny’s Child as well as the Mary J. Blige and Luther Vandross that permeated her childhood home, Cariss cites likes of Bree Runway, Denai Moore and FKA Twigs for the blueprint of her sound; “Women unafraid to do what they want, entirely liberated in their art, refusing to be boxed into one genre.”

Steadily growing confidence in her effortlessly unique sound, Cariss Auburn represents some of the most exciting alt-R&B coming out of the UK, underpinned by universal emotion.

Tickets for Centrala Presents: Cariss Auburn & Ruth and the Ark 5th June 2021 are on sale here.
