LoveBrum launches homeless Christmas campaign

Bags For Brummies initiative into its fourth year.

LoveBrum has given a 2020 twist to the fourth year of its popular Bags For Brummies initiative, with no physical donations or collections possible due to the ongoing pandemic. Instead, contributions will be made in kind, through established charity partner, Hope Revolution.

Visitors to the special LoveBrum page can select what items to buy for the local homeless community, which will then be packed and shipped directly to its nominated charities: Sifa Fireside, St Basils, and Let’s Feed Brum.

The virtual shopping is a selection of essentials to keep the homeless safe and warm this winter, including waterproof jackets, fleeces, underwear, toiletries and PPE, including face masks and hand sanitiser.

Last year, Bags For Brummies saw LoveBrum hand out more than 500 bags to those in need.

Andy Whelan, Fundraising Trustee at LoveBrum, commented: “This year it’s more important than ever to help and support the city’s homeless community as much as we can; we’ve adapted our Bags for Brummies campaign, but the aim is still the same – spread a little cheer during these dark and cold winter months.

“We appreciate these are tough times for a lot of people, but any donation will make a huge difference.”
