SIFA Fireside draws the city

Stroke of genius sees picture perfect fundraiser.

Throughout the pandemic, the community spirit of Brummies has been in full swing, with creative arts projects brightening walls, lifting spirits and supporting local charities.

One Brummie that has been leaving his mark on the city is Stacey Barnfield (pictured), Director of Edwin Ellis Creative Media PR and Publishing Agency. During lockdown, Stacey started an exciting new venture in the form of ‘Draw My City’. Initially a social media project, his artwork work proved so popular he took to creating watercolour prints of iconic Birmingham locations.

Featuring sketches such as Snobs Night Club, the Town Hall, the Rotunda, the ‘Love you, Bab’ Brummie skyline, for each print sold, Stacey donates £5 directly to SIFA Fireside. All prints can be found on www.drawmycity.co.uk.

Carly Jones, SIFA Fireside CEO said: “It’s been great to see everyone come together in such a difficult time. There is such a strong community spirit in Birmingham and Stacey’s project demonstrates just that. We really appreciate the support he has given, not only with Draw My City but also the time he gives regularly volunteering in our Drop In Centre. On theme with his sketches – thanks, Bab!”

As a keen volunteer at SIFA Fireside, the charity holds a special place in his heart. On the project, Stacey said: “Like many people, lockdown gave me the opportunity and time to do something I’ve always enjoyed – a lifelong passion for art and sketching.

“I love Birmingham as it’s a city that’s always changing and having the time to capture Birmingham’s landmarks and favourite places has been fantastic. It all started with a few posts on social media and I was blown away by the response! From there, I started the prints on request and demand has continued from there.

“I chose to donate £5 from each print to SIFA Fireside as I’ve volunteered there for coming up to a year so as a charity, the work they do is particularly close to my heart. I’ve raised £600 so far which is fantastic and I know it will be put to good use and make a massive difference to others.”

The full range of iconic prints are still available and can be found on Stacey’s website: www.drawmycity.co.uk for more information about SIFA Fireside and how you can get involved, visit www.sifafireside.co.uk.
