New start for Birmingham Jazz

Meal and music deal kicks off new series of promotions.

Birmingham Jazz are beginning what they are hoping will be a full new season with two trial events at 1,000 Trades in the Jewellery Quarter.

First up on Friday 11th September will be French horn player Jim Rattigan with his trio Triplicity.

Jim has appeared twice for Birmingham Jazz with his large ensemble Pavillon, but this is the first time that his three-piece will be appearing. He has performed all over the world both as a jazz soloist and member of various groups, which include the Michael Brecker Quindectet, Django Bates’ Delightful Precipice, the Creative Jazz Orchestra with Kenny Wheeler. He has has toured and recorded with the BBC Big Band, Guy Barker Big Band and the London Sinfonietta amongst many others.

1,000 Trades are taking appropriate precautionary measures including social distancing upstairs as well as the bar area. The September gigs will proceed with customers seated around tables in ‘bubbles’. Food and drink will be ordered electronically and be served to the table. Attendance is by advanced booking only, and tickets are £30 non-member, £25 member, to include entrance and meal. Tickets details are available here.
