Discovering Birmingham

City’s emerging talent to be showcased in month-long festival.

Birmingham Promoters have teamed up with BBC Introducing, MAS Records, Born Music and Counteract to bring together a series of live showcases from some of the region’s leading artists alongside some of the newest talent the Midlands has to offer.

Artists early in their development will get the opportunity to be introduced to some of the leading music industry professionals in their area, get a feel to how things work on a bigger scale and most importantly share the festival line-up with other like-minded musicians.

In its inaugural year Discover Birmingham 2020 will take place in one of the city’s most intimate and most loved music venues, The Sunflower Lounge. Over the past twelve months, the venue has seen some special showcase performances from the UK’s fastest rising stars including the likes of Sam Fender, Kojey Radical, Maisie Peters, The Regrettes and Marsicans to name just a few as well as some very special intimate shows with acts that first cut their teeth at the venue including exclusive performances from Peace and Swim Deep alongside some of the region’s breakthrough artists such as Feet, Ivory Wave, Sugarthief, The Clause and many more.

The team at Birmingham Promoters explains, “This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging acts from the West Midlands to get involved with what’s happening right now in Birmingham. With it being so early in the year it gives artists that chance to connect with the right people and put themselves on the local radar early on. Teaming up with the likes of BBC Introducing and MAS Records as well as our other friends with their array of knowledge and resources, it excites us to pull all of that together and help produce and support the up and coming talent in the region.

“A key ingredient for local artists is the ability to share the stages with touring acts and we hope this will help fast-track the development of artists to get up to that stage quicker. We’re all very excited to host these events and to help people ‘Discover Birmingham’.”

The line-up includes some of the leading artists in the city both on stage and in Q&A panel formats to help shine a light for new acts emerging in the city to follow.
