Boogie wonderland

New city venue set for launch.

The owners of Birmingham’s newest day to night venue are promising something fresh and exciting and never before seen in the Second City as they prepare to open early next month.

The duo behind Boogie Shed in the Jewellery Quarter say there will be lots of ground-breaking firsts once the Victorian warehouse on Ludgate Hill opens on February 1st.

The three-storey venue, in the heart of one of the city’s most thriving districts, was formerly Stirling’s Bar but has seen a radical transformation internally.

A grade II listed building, Boogie Shed will retain much of its’ grandeur and its traditional red brick facade but inside guests can expect the wow factor with neon pink walls and astro-turf carpets, life size replica animals including the venue’s mascot – a life size tangerine giraffe – and a Boogie bed.

Guests lucky enough to get an invitation to the grand launch on Saturday February 1st will be treated to cocktails and canapés while the basement will host a huge-ticket only party until the early hours.

The men behind the project – Cowan Ogunnusi and Ed Davis – both have extensive experience in running entertainment venues in the city and beyond and promise the Boogie Shed will surpass expectations of a night out in Birmingham in future.

Cowan said: “Boogie Shed promises to really shake up nights out in future and is a fresh and safe concept aimed at a much wider audience than most of the other nightlife venues right now.

“It is more than just a nightclub though we will of course be open late every Friday and Saturday night until 4am and using a pool of local talent in terms of DJs and performers.

“We will be open for brunches and lunch too and really want to entice the corporate crowd in during the week and after work especially as there are so many thriving businesses in this area.

“Our restaurant will open soon and this will offer so many different options.”

He said the idea was to entice people not just from Birmingham but the whole country just as places like Menagerie do in Manchester. “Boogie Shed will be a real destination station and a real magnet to attract people to spend a weekend in the city,” he said.

Co-owner Ed, who runs a global marketing business, said a big focus of the venue would be making it appeal to everyone and said future events included party nights, guest dj spots, vegan and vegetarian brunches, chicken wing challenges and even a regular sausage dog cafe.

He said: “Boogie Shed will be so much more than a nightclub and will have a far wider appeal. It will be weird and wacky and wonderful and a real destination. “With our giant giraffe looking down on the area it will certainly be difficult to miss us! “
