New lease of life for Nechells pub

Foaming Tankard re-opens with a Caribbean flair.

The Foaming Tankard, located in Nechells, is celebrating its re-opening following a joint investment with Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub operator. The pub re-opened on December 7th with an exciting new look after a £50,000 internal transformation.

New licensee and nurse Sylvia Ferron has taken inspiration from her family’s Caribbean roots. The pub will launch an exciting British and Jamaican fusion menu. The pub’s décor and furnishings are inspired by the soothing comforts of a tropical beach holiday, creating a beautiful backdrop with a calming atmosphere.

Customers will be treated to a wonderful selection of signature dishes, including Jamaican jerk chicken and curry goat, prepared by Sylvia’s husband Brammie, who is well known in the community for his local Caribbean food shop. An exotic new drinks menu will offer customers a terrific selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options to accompany the food, including an impressive range of cocktails.

Commenting on the new venture, licensee Sylvia Ferron said: “I am very excited to be taking on this new adventure and be able to give back to my community in a whole new way. I want the Foaming Tankard to be a special place for people of all ages to come relax and enjoy themselves in a warm and inviting setting. Being a nurse, I am passionate at providing care to my patients. With the support of my pub staff, we will be able to extend this and provide care to a wealth of people in the community.”

With this new venture, Sylvia is hoping to create the perfect social hub to host locals in a way that inspires care and wellbeing. A topic close to her heart, Sylvia is a nurse in the local area and often hosts school children on Sundays in the area. Her nurturing nature and love for the community inspired Sylvia to join the pub industry as a way of being able to help her community in an alternative way.

Commenting on the Licensee, Admiral’s Business Development Manager, Rachael Dixon said: “We are so pleased to have Sylvia join the Admiral Taverns family, she is a fantastic addition to our team and has worked very hard to get the pub ready for its grand reveal. Her compassionate and caring nature makes her the perfect licensee and we look forward to being a part of this new adventure.”
