Coleshill firm makes carnival a hit

Coleshill carnival breaks records thanks to PGS.

Coleshill has enjoyed its “best ever” carnival, thanks to the hard work of the organising committee and invaluable support of a leading Birmingham logistics company.

There had been fears that the highlight of carnival day, the parade through the streets, would not go ahead after the firm which previously provided vehicles for the event went into administration.

But PGS Global Logistics stepped into the breach to make sure the event continued as planned. The firm, which is based in Kitts Green, Birmingham and is part of the Pallet-Track network, provided eight vehicles along with drivers.

Paul Eyles, PGS founder and managing director, said: “We were absolutely thrilled that we could help out and make sure the parade went ahead. We knew there would be a lot of very disappointed people if the event was cancelled.

“The day was fantastic and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were glad we could do our bit to help but the success was very much down to the hard work of all the carnival organisers and the efforts of the community.”

George Clayton, from Coleshill Carnival, added: “It was an absolutely perfect day with plenty of sunshine and so much fun. We couldn’t have wished for it to go any better. Everyone went to so much effort, it was outstanding.

“People have been commenting that it really was the best carnival day ever. We just can’t thank PGS enough for coming to our rescue. They couldn’t do enough for us.

“We were slightly concerned that one of the articulated lorries was a bit big, so Paul immediately sent that one back to their depot and had it swapped it for a smaller one. Absolutely nothing was too much bother. They have already said they would be happy to help us out again next year, so we are delighted.”

Winner of the best float on the day was Hazelwood Group Practice with its Greatest Showman entry. This was the first time the GPs have taken part in the carnival parade.
