Food fun in Longbridge

Fun for all the family at Longbridge Food Festival.

Birmingham’s finest foodie, Glynn Purnell, dished up a generous helping of free fun at Longbridge Town Centre on Saturday for its 2019 Food Festival. Fresh from his appearances on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen, the Yummy Brummie served up cooking demonstrations and top tips from the stage, before snapping selfies with the crowds.

Foodies and families alike gathered at Longbridge Food Festival over the weekend, with hundreds turning out to enjoy a slice of the action.

Joining Glynn on stage was everyone’s favourite BBQ king, Andy Stubbs of Low N Slow. Meanwhile, a host of award-winning street-food vendors from Longbridge Dining Club were part of the stellar recipe for the day. Taking over Longbridge Town Centre, ten of Digbeth Dining Club’s favourite faces, from Chef Shack and Middle Feast to Urban Cheesecake and Press de Cuba, brought sugar, spice, and all things nice for one day only.

Glynn Purnell, the man behind Michelin-starred Purnell’s on Cornwall Street, as well as Purnell’s Bistro & Ginger’s Bar on Newhall Street, returned to his South Birmingham roots to rustle up a one of his signature dishes on the stage from midday.

The festival also went beyond the set-menu of food, offering a healthy side of fun for all the family. As well as sampling the tasty dishes, guests made the most of the sunshine, sipping on summery cocktails, enjoy DJ sets, and even try their hand at arts and crafts.

Paul Haynes, the Centre Manager of Longbridge Shopping Park, spoke highly of the event: “I’m so glad that Longbridge has had yet another successful year of the Food Festival, and in my opinion it was undoubtedly the best one yet.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be joined by the one and only Glynn Purnell too, and of course, to welcome back our old friends, Digbeth Dining Club. Seeing the turnout was tremendous and there was a real buzz in the air for the entire afternoon. We already can’t wait until the next one!”

The fun doesn’t stop there! There’s plenty more events coming up for 2019 in Longbridge, so remember to keep an eye on the website for what is in store: www.longbridgebirmingham.co.uk
