Birmingham business works with iconic footwear brands

Innovative augmented reality feature released.

Birmingham based e-commerce agency, Eastside Co, has today announced its latest project with iconic fashion brands Dr. Martens and Lazy Oaf with the launch of augmented reality shoes.

The feature, available to view on mobile devices, allows fashionistas to view a full scale, 3D version of the brand’s latest collection that includes four new pairs of shoes, which are adorned with bubble-gum pink and heart accents. The new range marks the third collaboration between the two fashion giants.

When customers select an AR view on the Lazy Oaf website, a 3D version of the shoes will appear – to scale – in the user’s home. Customers can zoom to see all the details of each pair ahead of purchase. Eastside Co created the software to give shoppers the chance to get up-close access and a 360 degree view of the product.

The AR features are available on Apple devices running iOS 12. An app is not required to enable augmented reality features. To launch AR view, customers need to:

· Visit lazyoaf on Safari

· Tap on a pair of shoes from the collection

· Tap the AR symbol on the top right hand side of the image to launch the product in augmented reality

The new feature, launching on iOS, will allow customers to view digital versions of the following products at the touch of a button:

· Dr. Martens x Lazy Oaf Buckle Boot

· Dr. Martens x Lazy Oaf Buckle Creeper

· Dr. Martens x Lazy Oaf Vegan Sandal

· Dr. Martens x Lazy Oaf Rose Buckle Creeper

Eastside Co, established in 2013, works with businesses around the world to design and develop bespoke e-commerce sites and apps on the most scalable platforms – Shopify and Shopify Plus. The e-commerce agency also provides digital marketing expertise for retail brands that embrace advances in technology to make their customers’ lives easier.

Jason Stokes, founder of Eastside co said: “Lazy Oaf and Dr. Martens are at the forefront of fashion and look at ways to innovate and improve how their technology-savvy customers shop with them.

“Utilising AR is a practical way for fashion lovers to get up-close with products. The idea is to help customers with hectic lifestyles who are shopping on the go to quickly visualise and explore their chosen products from the comfort of their own space. It’s also important as consumers are increasingly become more eco-conscious and want to limit return deliveries.”
