Alice in Sutton-land

Alice in Wonderland-inspired family day for Concerts in the Park 2019.

Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council’s annual Concerts in the Park family day is inspired by all things Alice in Wonderland for 2019. Families can expect music, giant garden games, circus skills, community choirs and more all in the gorgeous setting of Sutton Park on Sunday 30th June.

Visitors can pack a picnic and come on down to entertain the littlest family members with Sutton’s own Baby Opera company, B’Opera, performing their new magical show Alice and the Library Tree. The day brings beautiful music for tiny ears and giant garden games for grown up-children and their not-so-grown up parents!

Be sure to drop in the Cooke’s Craft Tent to paint those white roses red and join the Queen of Hearts for a game of croquet… just be careful not to lose your head! Step into the Caucus Race Circus, those Tweedles are up to some tricks, and let the little ones learn all kinds of crazy circus skills; juggling, diablo, hula hooping and poi… all with the mischievous Dee and Dum!

For the first time, you can look forward to dance on the concert stage. Let’s all Dance’s ballet production of Alice in Wonderland is for every aspiring Alice and Mad Hatter and set to a beautiful classical score. The much loved ten-piece mini orchestra from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will return with a brand new programme of curious music along with community choirs singing throughout the day.

Leader of Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council Councillor Simon Ward said: “Our family day is a firm favourite for families looking to kick-start their summer and we can’t wait to see Sutton Park transformed into an Alice inspired wonderland. Music, games, choirs and circus activities means there will be something for all ages from your youngest mad hatter to your oldest along with a range of local street food and bars.”

Gates open for the Concerts in the Park family day at 11am. A family ticket costs £20, adults £8, children 3–15yrs £4, Concs £4 and under 3s go free. Tickets are available here
