Hard-to-find shop opens in Digbeth

Hardware, gifts and curios at the Custard Factory.

Ridding & Wynn, a new independent emporium selling hard-to-find homeware, gifts and curiosities, has opened on Gibb Street in the Custard Factory. An idea born from a long time love of curiosity hunting for their own home, and their passion for ‘all things collectable’ inspired owners Lily and Jase to launch the showroom, which also has an online store.

Ridding and Wynn provides shoppers with a carefully curated selection of hard-to-find and unique items that have a story to tell, as well as offering a large selection of unique cards and gifts.

Aiming to offer originality, great design and, wherever possible, completely untouched antique pieces, Ridding & Wynn source genuine antique furniture including apothecary/medical cabinets, storage, and vintage signs. A unique ever-growing collection of all things ‘curio’ in the form of circus and fairground signs, lighting and antiques sets Ridding & Wynn’s offer apart from anything else on the High Street.

Whilst products are sourced ethically from all over the world, Ridding and Wynn are also committed to supporting local talent, with sustainability also key to their buying policy. Ridding & Wynn also offers a prop hire, supply and styling service, offering to source high quality designer furniture of all periods, lighting, artwork, home and garden fixtures, taxidermy and textiles.
Owner Lily Ridding said, “Our motto is ‘always desirable and never boring’. We want to be everyone’s first port of call when searching for that something special for their home, garden or loved ones. When people step into the shop, we want them to experience something which ticks all of the sensory receptors boxes – more colours than a Mexican throw, the smell of wonderful natural incense and candles, the tones of a cool soundtrack or the feel of vintage velvet.

“We didn’t want to be on the high-street; we wanted to find a home that reflected our values and so when it came to finding a location for our new store, The Custard Factory was an obvious choice. Digbeth is brimming with creative people, independent businesses and unique events and we felt that there was a real gap in the market for a store like ours. There is nothing like Ridding and Wynn in Birmingham and we’re extremely excited to join the Digbeth community and welcome customers into the store.”
