Two weeks to go until Sutton Park extravaganza.

TVs Josie d’Arby will host the evenings events at Sutton Coldfield’s Concerts in the Park on Saturday 30 June. Sunday’s main stage will be hosted by BBC WM favourite Daz Hale. Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council have confirmed that The Swing Era, the Birmingham based dance school specialising in vintage lindy hop and authentic swing dance, will perform to Down for the Count’s Vintage Swing Orchestra on Saturday 30th June, encouraging the audience to get on their feet and dance along.

Best known for Songs of Praise, co-host of BBC Young Musician, BBC Choir of the Year (alongside Gareth Malone) and BBC Proms in the Park, Josie d’Arby said: “After last year’s successful first event, I’m delighted to be invited to compere the second ever Concert in the Park on Saturday 30 June. The CBSO programme looks fantastic, with some of my personal favourites among the pieces, and I can’t wait to hear the Strictly’s Lance Ellington sing with the Orchestra.

“This outside concert in the beautiful setting of Sutton Park, promises to be a joyful event that will bring communities and families together under the stars to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate the wonderful gift of beautiful music.”

BBC WM presenter Daz Hale has done everything from postman to sinegr in a band called The Moneygods, who supported the likes of Radiohead, to presenting on BBC WM.

Looking ahead to the Family Day on Sunday 1st July he said: “I’m thrilled to be invited to present the Family Woodland Concert in the Park. Sutton Park is a great place for a community celebration, and the combination of the CBSO, community choirs, story-telling and crafts means it should be a fantastic day for everyone. I’m looking forward to a fun day out in the park and I know my children can’t wait to come along and check it all out for themselves!”

Leader of Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council Councillor Simon Ward said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm the hosts for Concerts in The Park. Josie and Daz will really add to what will be an outstanding weekend from the talent on the stage to the experience off stage, for example, hot on the heels of the hugely successful Food Festival in Sutton, we will be welcoming a huge variety of local providers throughout the event.”
