Aldridge comedy club opens with BGT star

TV act to headline first night at new venue.

Comedian Nick Page, who appeared in Tuesday’s Britain’s Got Talent Live semi-finals, is to headline a new comedy event in Aldridge.

Comedy night The Aldridge Comedy Social Club will be held on Wednesday 20th June at Aldridge Social Club. The show has been organised by Julie Rennison, who runs Juney’s Comedy Club as part of her arts consultancy company, Cohesion.

“I mainly book acts for companies all over the UK and Nick is always well received. I was really pleased when he agreed to open our first night at the social club, especially now people will have seen him on Britain’s Got Talent. He had to adapt his act on there to a particular TV audience and so I think local comedy fans will love to see his unrestricted work,” she said.

Nick, who won the title of English Comedian of the Year 2018, will be joined on the evening by 2017 Pun Champion and Free Radio Breakfast show’s Lovdev Barpaga, Charmian Hughes from London and Birmingham based MC Paul Savage.

Tickets, priced at £8 are available from Aldridge Social Club on the High Street or via the box office on 01922 456 742. A link for online booking can be found through the Juney’s Comedy Club Facebook page.

Julie, who has been running Aldridge business Cohesion since 2004, books well known stars for major award ceremonies and company events. She branched out into club comedy in 2011 and puts comedy nights into hotels and venues needing a high quality show. “My friends at the Social Club asked if I could try their concert room for a comedy night. It’s a great space so if people want to come along on the 20th, we could make it a regular comedy club, bringing more visitors to the village.”
