Acting for the summer

Old Rep launches first Theatre Experience Summer School.

The Old Rep in Birmingham is launching its first ever Summer School for 7-16 year olds. Taking place over a week (Monday 20th–Saturday 25th August) this fun and intensive experience will give participants a chance to improve their singing, dancing and acting skills then show them all off in a public showcase at the end of the week.

Led by professional performing arts tutors, the daily workshops will introduce children to songs, dances and scenes from some of the biggest West End shows. Following sold out workshops in the Easter holidays, the Theatre Experience Summer School gives young people the chance to build on performance skills. The Summer School is open to seasoned performers and budding artists alike and all will have the chance to perform on The Old Rep stage following in the footsteps of some of theatre’s greats: Michael Gambon, Sir Derek Jacobi, Brian Cox and many more.

One participant said of the Easter workshops: “I had so much fun! I learned loads and made lots of new friends. The tutors were really great and made me feel at ease. It’s really nice to be in a space with other creative young people who are passionate about performing!”
