No hoot for the Owls

Andy Munro on Blues’ 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Hillsborough has never been a happy hunting ground for Blues, either in the league (or for semi-finals) and with Wednesday due to score after a number of blanks in preceding matches, it looked as if they would be rectifying that given our poor record at their place.

However, even without the inform Maghoma and with Davies allegedly carrying an injury, we came away with a ‘pinch me I’m dreaming’ win. In fact, yet again Davies got into the box to score, following a horrendous mistake in the Wednesday defence, emphasising the importance of the need to get bodies into the opposition box.

Jota then at least started to justify his exorbitant fee with a well taken brace, all helped by Wednesday’s first dismissal. Grounds came off with an injury and while he’s not everybody’s favourite full-back, let’s hope it’s not serious. Luckily the lively Bramall was a more than adequate replacement and our momentum was maintained despite Wednesday pulling one back.

Boga continues to be a box of tricks and with an inform Gallagher things are looking good up front but let’s hope that we don’t get any injuries given the comparative paucity of forward cover.

Six goals in two games? It truly is a funny old game!
