Cooking up a storm

Take a look at these gigs at the Kitchen Garden Cafe.

There’s a few nights coming up in March at the Kitchen Garden Cafe in Kings Heath that are worthy of attention.

On Friday 2nd March gypsy swing/hot jazz band the Hot Club of Jupiter will be performing. The band were originally formed to provide the music for an online advertising campaign for Renault in 2013, but while the ads were withdrawn for being “too lewd for public consumption” the band continued.

Tuesday 6th March sees highly-rated young roots and blues guitarist Sean Taylor playing his first Birmingham gig, as part of a UK tour promoting his new album Flood & Burn.

Then on Sunday 25th March, Dudley-born folk guitarist Nigel Mazlyn Jones will be making a rare return to his home ground in his first Birmingham show for many years. After a recording career that saw him compared to the likes of Roy Harper, Nick Drake and John Martyn and many years playing with such acts as Barclay James Harvest and Bob Geldof, Nigel is now winding down his live appearances so this may be a final opportunity to see one of the doyens of the british folk scene.
