Businesses and public asked to gift a ticket this Christmas

Campaign aims to provide theatre tickets for local children.

Midlands Arts Centre are calling on local businesses, its customers and supporters to offer the gift of theatre to children across the city this winter. Now in its second year, MAC’s Gift a Ticket campaign, will offer free tickets to Father Christmas, which opens from 30 November to 30 December 2017. Recipients will be local children who have little, or no opportunity to enjoy a trip to the theatre. Donations will help to ensure its target of gifting 250 tickets can be achieved and hopefully surpassed.

Father Christmas is a heart-warming adaption of Raymond Briggs famous story, produced by Lyric Hammersmith and Pins and Needles. Full of merry touches, plenty of live music, songs and playful puppetry, audiences young and old will be enthralled as hidden doors and secret hatches are revealed. MAC has also scheduled a relaxed performance on 27 December alongside a touch tour of the scenery.

Last year’s Gift Ticket campaign raised over £3,000, resulting in 250 tickets distributed to local children. Individuals and businesses who would like to support the campaign can do so in several ways:
· Via MAC’s website at – macbirmingham.co.uk/support
· Via MAC’S Just Giving page at – www.justgiving.com/macarts
· By calling MAC’s sales and information team on 0121 446 3237

Nicola Saunders, MAC’s Fundraising Manager said: “Last year we were so thankful for the support of our many visitors and supporters. It’s hard to forget the many smiling faces and the air of excitement from the children who visited our theatre last year, many for the first time. We know, from talking to parents and teachers that the children remembered the performance long afterwards and we hope that many more children will experience the magic of theatre this year too!”
